Here is a great example of how fashion and music can come together to create a unique experience. We met Miami-based knitter and stylist Karrelle Levy of “Krel Wear” during teamMADE’s trip to Miami for Miami Art Basel 2011. Karelle created the outfits for audio-visual interdisciplinary artist Sanford Biggers and the band “Moon Medicine” for their “Art Public” performance during Miami Art Basel 2011. In the film, Karelle provides insight on how she approached this project, as we see her working process, which culminates the band’s performance.

SEVENTY FIVE PROJECT BY NILS VÖLKER

Media artist Nils Völker, who, together with his brother Sven, created “Captured” at MADE, recently presented his latest project, “Seventy Five”, at the Kuando Museum of Fine Arts in Taipei, Taiwan. The installation is part of the “Transjourney” exhibition, and is on display until February 19th. It covers an eight-meter tall wall, and goes through three stories of the building, being seen from different dimensions and perspectives. If you happen to be in Taipei in the coming weeks, make sure you stop by!

Lukas Feireiss, the curator behind MADE’s SCRATCH’N'CUT All Remix Everything, presents “Testify! The Consequences of Architecture.”

Testify! The Consequences of Architecture presents a selection of projects that seek to improve social, economic and environmental conditions through architectural and artistic means. Using flexible, integrative planning processes, architects, urban planners and other creatives are levying the transformative power of architecture to meet the complex challenges of our time. Through the personal impressions of diverse stakeholders – construction workers, students, journalists, photographers, academics and politicians – Testify! highlights the projects and their impact from the perspective of the users.

The exhibition was originally conceived for the Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAI), Rotterdam and will be on shown in slightly smaller scale at the Deutsches Architektur Zentrum (DAZ), Berlin. Various events will accompany the exhbition.

A few hours before the Wood Wood fashion show at MADE, we spoke to Karl-Oskar Olsen, the co-founder, co-art director and menswear designer of Wood Wood about the creation and development of the company and brand, as well as the fashion world today and his different inspirations.

WOOD WOOD AT MADE

Last night, MADE hosted the Fall/Winter 2012 Collection fashion show of Danish brand Wood Wood. The collection, called “The Kingdom” is inspired by the old English courtyard and features a wide variety of outerwear, patchwork shirting, knitwear and accessories, all of which were presented at the show.

It was a pleasure working together with our Danish friends. A big thanks to everyone for coming out and enjoying a great night of fashion at MADE!

During Art Basel Miami 2011, we sat down with Tim and Eric and discussed their respective journeys towards becoming artists, as well as their thoughts and insights on the art world today. Also, Eric shares his experience of working with the The Lance Armstrong Foundation on an important and meaningful project.

It was a real pleasure getting to know these two outstanding creative minds.
