VALSE AUTOMATIQUE project film
In the context of the MADE-concept, “Anything can happen when creative minds from various fields clash”, the violinist / composer Mihalj „MIKI“ Kekenj and the product designer Hermann August Weizenegger came together at MADE to create a Gesamtkunstwerk from music, design, crafts and digital culture.
Five months ago Hermann and Miki started talking about a vague idea of bringing music into form.
The question was:
How would this machine interpret music?
Could music humanize machines?
How would it feel?
How would it look like?
So we gave the machine two tools, a drill and fire to sculpt five musical compositions into five blocks of wax.
As to capture the emotions and the character of music in an object, the robot was programmed to be MIKI’s interpreter, taught and conducted by Hermann to sculpt and form what Hermann calls: “poetic artifacts”.
